New details have been released in the shooting of a Circle K clerk last week that left the man seriously injured.

Court records reveal that the shooter is a 17-year-old teen who has a felony conviction for assaulting an officer.

Police say that the shooting happened on May 13 around 6 p.m. when two young men entered the Circle K near 19th avenue and Osborn Road attempting to steal cigarettes.

They were confronted by a security guard who was able to grab one of them. The other individual went outside and returned with another accomplice and with weapons. The two entered the store with a handgun and a shotgun to free their partner.

The 17-year-old shot the clerk with the handgun causing a broken shoulder and "possible paralysis due to the bullet being lodged in the spine."

The three suspects were caught by police the next day. Police believe the suspects may be involved in similar crimes in the area.

The 17-year-old is facing charges of attempted burglary, six counts of kidnapping and six counts of aggravated assault.
