PHOENIX — A local band called "The Joey's" is starting to get noticed on the national level.
They certainly sound the part, even though they look a little young, don't be fooled by their age. All of the band members are under the age of 16, but this isn't just a couple of friends messing around in the garage.
"The Joeys" as they're called, discovered each other and realized they had something.
"It's just super high energy, and I feel like anyone could go to our shows and have a good time, no matter what musical background that they have," said Dean Cheney, the bands lead guitar and vocals.
Even their parents are relating to what the teens are putting out and of- course they're supportive of the group.
"What's cool about them and the music style that they play, is that older people can appreciate it and it has enough energy and fun and enthusiasm. That people their age are responding to it as well," said Ed Cheney, Dean's father.
The group is collaborating writing original music, playing live shows all over Arizona and they're starting to attract attention.
"Especially with this group in particular, with these three people there's defiantly something going on, there's an excitement that's starting to happen," Cheney said.
The parents say the kids will still of-course focus on school, but they're excited to see where these teens will take their musicals endeavors and how far the band will go.
