Union members confirm the family of of a former Phoenix police officer who committed suicide will get disability benefits.

Officer Craig Tiger was fired from the department in 2013 after getting a DUI.  More than a year after his termination, he took his life.

His wife Rebecca, has been fighting for benefits ever since.

Tiger says the city let him slip through the cracks after he shot and killed someone on the job in 2012.

That's where his family claims his struggle with PTSD started, leading to his DUI one year later.

The officer's death raised questions about the department, as a whole and led to the firing of former Police Chief Daniel Garcia.
