A man has been taken to jail after a lengthy SWAT situation in Phoenix.
Phoenix police were called to a house near 21st Avenue and Encanto Boulevard at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of an injured person.
When police arrived on the scene, several people began running from the house. Officers were able to detain several people and were told a woman was not breathing inside the house.
When officers entered the house they found a dead woman and a possible armed man who was locked inside of his bedroom.
The man refused to come out so officers exited the home and evacuated neighbors.
After hours of negotiation, the 61-year-old man surrendered to officers. He had a warrant for his arrest and was booked into jail. Several guns were found in the home.
According to police, the woman found in the house showed no signs of foul play and she was reported to be a drug user.
