PHOENIX — A person is dead after police say they crossed a busy street against a green light.
Paramedics with the Phoenix Fire Department were called to Camelback Road and 16th Street Thursday night for reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.
Phoenix police say the pedestrian, identified as a 41-year-old woman, was attempting to cross Camelback Road against the signal when she was struck by a 2016 Hyundai Tucson.
She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name hasn’t been released.
Authorities say the driver, a 24-year-old woman, remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment. Police say there was evidence that the pedestrian was impaired.
More details are expected to be released once the Phoenix Police Department completes its investigation.
