Phoenix police have arrested a man for stabbing and killing a woman Sunday night.

Police say officers were called to a home near 24th Street and McDowell Road after receiving a call about a stabbing around 9 p.m.

A 27-year-old woman, later identified as Keshonna Brooks, was found dead at the scene with injuries to her neck.

Officers arrived to find witnesses had already detained her ex-boyfriend, Roderick Brooks, in connection with the attack.

Police said the pair share a last name but there is no relation.

Keshonna was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Police said Roderick forced his way inside Keshonna's house before beating and stabbing her.

He has been booked into the Fourth Avenue jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
