PHOENIX — Two people were detained late Friday after an erratic driver led authorities on a brief, high-speed pursuit that ended in the Valley, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Duty Office.
Around 11 p.m., DPS dispatch received reports of a vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City that was unable to maintain its lane, doing hard braking, and not letting vehicles pass, according to the Duty Office.
A DPS trooper located the vehicle as it reached New River and noted that the driver continued to drive erratically. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle began to travel at speeds above 100 mph, the Duty Office said.
Near I-17 and Northern Avenue, DPS troopers used "tire deflation devices" to slow the suspect vehicle down, which was successful and came to a stop nearby.
Two people were taken into custody without incident, DPS said.
No other details were immediately released.
