Devices used to steal credit and debit card information were removed from two gas pumps in North Phoenix, and officials are warning customers to check their personal information for fraudulent charges.
According to the Arizona Department of Agriculture, members from the Department of Weights and Measures recently removed skimmers from two gas pumps at a Circle K on 32nd Street and Cactus Road.
The skimmers were attached to a key pad and scanner, which allows the thieves to gather the pin numbers and account of a card.
The business did not know the skimmers had been placed on two of its pumps.
If customers pumped gas at that particular Circle K location prior to December 9th, they are urged to watch over their accounts and monitor for any charges they aren't familiar with.
The Phoenix Police Department, Circle K and credit card companies are working together to help solve this incident.
The department does advise consumers to check gas pumps before inserting any card into a scanner. Consumers can look for a sticker that crosses between a pump and the pump access door that is located near the credit card slot, if that sticker has been cut or if there is tape residue, store attendants should be notified.
