The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a motorcyclist was injured and a suspect driver got away after an overnight traffic stop along the I-17.
The incident started around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near Northern Avenue when troopers tried to stop a speeding vehicle that ended up coming to a stop in the HOV lane.
The driver reportedly jumped out of the car, hopped the median wall and got away from the scene after running through traffic.
Before troopers could secure the scene or move the stopped suspect vehicle, other vehicles tried to stop, including a motorcyclist that hit the back of a car.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
The freeway was blocked around Northern Avenue for several hours.
