FD: 1 person hospitalized after crash involving a car, 2 school buses

A woman is hospitalized in serious condition stemming from a crash involving a car and two school buses in North Phoenix.

A Phoenix police spokesperson said the accident happened Tuesday afternoon near 43rd Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

According to unconfirmed reports from the Deer Valley Unified School District, the car ran a red light and hit a bus, pushing that bus into another bus.

The female driver of the car was taken to the trauma center after suffering serious injuries.Both bus drivers are OK, officials said. 

School district officials said the buses were coming from Deer Valley High School.

Three students were evaluated at the scene but were not taken to the hospital. They were released to their parents, Phoenix fire said.

There were 64 students total onboard the buses.
