PHOENIX — A man pushing a wheelchair was hit and killed in north Phoenix Wednesday morning.
Phoenix police say the crash occurred near 23rd Avenue and Bell Road before 7 a.m.
The traffic signal reportedly changed while a man pushing a wheelchair was crossing the street and a westbound vehicle, driven by a 77-year-old man, struck the pedestrian.
The victim, a 62-year-old man, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The driver remained at the scene and police do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
