PHOENIX — A portion of Bell Road remained closed Thursday morning after a deadly shooting occurred near I-17 Wednesday night.
Phoenix police say they were called to investigate a shooting around 8:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man on the ground with a gunshot wound.
The victim, 25-year-old Torry Taylor, was reportedly shot by an unknown man during a confrontation near the freeway access road. Taylor then walked to a nearby restaurant where he collapsed, police say.
Witnesses told officers the suspect, vaguely identified as a man in his late 20s, fled the area on foot. A search of the area did not locate the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers).
Bell Road will be closed from I-17 to 29th Avenue in both directions due to a police investigation. Please avoid the area for the next several hours. Vehicles exiting the I-17 Bell Road exits will be directed to the east. pic.twitter.com/VsK7EtgdRf
