PHOENIX — Police are investigating after a man was found dead in Phoenix early Monday morning.
Officers were called to the area of 19th and Peoria avenues around 2 a.m. to check on a man seen on the ground. The man had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the man was in an altercation before the shooting occurred, according to initial information.
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Mario Mendoza.
Police have not yet released any suspect information, saying the investigation is still in the very early stages.
