PD: Phoenix man critical after accidental shooting; victim, other involved person had been drinking

Phoenix police say a man is in critical condition after he was accidentally shot after a night of drinking.

The incident occurred at a home near Tatum Boulevard and Greenway Road around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police say the victim, a man in his forties, was shot when he handed a presumably unloaded gun to another person. The gun went off and the victim was shot in the upper torso, causing life-threatening injuries.

Both had been drinking, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
