PHOENIX — Authorities say a 50-year-old pedestrian died after he was struck by a vehicle near 28th and Glendale avenues Saturday night.
Phoenix police said officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian around 9 p.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a pedestrian on the roadway. The man, identified as 50-year-old Robert Bennett, was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told authorities Bennett had stepped out onto the roadway to see if he could see the bus he was waiting for. A vehicle that was driving down the road hit Bennett and did not stop, according to police.
The vehicle involved in the incident is described as a light-colored, four-door sedan that could possibly be a Honda Civic.
