A person is dead after a fiery crash involving two cars in north Phoenix Wednesday night.
Authorities were called to the scene near 64th Street and Shea Boulevard around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of an accident.
The driver of one of the cars died at the scene, authorities said. He has since been identified as 24-year-old Ryman Garvey. Two others were hospitalized in serious, but stable condition.
According to Phoenix police, the 24-year-old male driver who died was speeding on Shea Boulevard when he or she struck a pickup truck. The black sedan then collided with a tree in a median before catching fire.
A 22-year-old passenger in the sedan suffered minor injuries during the incident, officials said.
The pickup truck was found on the street, officials said. The 28-year-old male driver of the truck was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle during the accident. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Roads in the area were still closed on Thursday until around 9:30 a.m.
