Phoenix firefighters responded to a serious crash near 29th Street and Greenway Road on Thursday night.
First responders say five people were hurt after a car hit a power pole at the intersection of 29th Street and Beverly Lane.
Initial reports also said power lines were down across the street.
The victims, all boys in their teens, were taken to nearby hospitals. A 16-year-old and a 19-year-old were taken in stable but serious condition. Three 15-year-olds were also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
According to an update from police on Friday morning, investigators believe the 19-year-old driver was consuming alcohol before the crash.
The online outage map for APS reported nearly 2,800 people were without power as a result of the crash.
Possible charges against the driver are still pending, police say.
