The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday near 40th Street just south of Bell Road.
The Phoenix Police Department took to their Twitter account and stated that the crash involved a vehicle and a bicyclist. According to a Phoenix fire spokesperson, the accident occurred right in front of the fire station.
The spokesperson told ABC15 that firefighters were in the back of the station when they heard what sounded like a car blowing a fire. The vehicle was gone by the time fire crews made it outside, leading investigators to believe that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police said Monday morning that the vehicle involved is a 2013-2015 silver Ford Fusion.
Mark Dickson, 54, was killed at the scene.
