PHOENIX — Phoenix police have released the photo of a man they believe might have been present when a 3-year-old boy was shot on Saturday near 35th Avenue and Dunlap.
Police are asking for the public's assistance locating Christopher Vanaller, who they believe was present when the child was injured.
The 3-year-old was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after he was shot in the shoulder. Police initially believed the shooting was an accident, but later told ABC15, they were "looking for someone."
"We might have gotten some information that was not correct to begin with and it might have even been a lack of information and we're trying to put that all together," said Phoenix Police Sergeant Tommy Thompson.
"At this time, investigators are trying to locate Vanaller, so they can speak with him. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts or this incident, is encouraged to contact the Phoenix Police Department," Thompson said in a media release.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Phoenix police at 602-262-6141. If they wish to remain anonymous, they can reach out to Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
