A Phoenix police officer sustained minor injuries after being hit by a driver under the influence early Sunday morning.
The crash occurred near 27th Avenue and Camelback Road when a driver ran a red light on eastbound Camelback just after 4 a.m., according to police. The officer’s vehicle rolled over, causing a large scene to develop near the intersection.
Police say the driver was arrested for drug possession and is being processed for driving under the influence.
The officer was able to drive to the hospital to treat injuries caused by the crash.
Police have not released the suspect’s name.
