A man is dead after losing control of his motorcycle and being struck by a car in north Phoenix, authorities said.
Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to Carefree Highway near 15th Avenue after the crash occurred.

According to a police spokeswoman, 46-year-old Howard Evans lost control of his bike while heading westbound on Carefree Highway and struck a raised median. A car heading eastbound hit Evans and he died at the scene.
The driver is cooperating with the investigation, officials said. Initial reports found that the driver does not appear to have been impaired.
Carefree Highway was closed near 15th and 20th avenues but has since reopened.
