Police arrested a man accused of trying to grab a pre-teenage girl at Phoenix's Roadrunner Park.

The 11-year-old girl told police she was playing at the park near SR-51 and Cactus Road on the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 7, when a man approached her and grabbed her arm.

She pulled away, telling the man, "I don't know you."

The girl says, the man grabbed her arm a second time. Again, she pulled her arm away and ran toward her father who immediately called police.

The man also ran away, but must not have gone far. When police arrived, the father pointed out 31-year-old David John Heiertz as the man who tried to abduct his daughter.

When the officer approached Heiertz, Heiertz turned and walked away, but eventually stopped and talked with the officer.

Heiertz told police he was playing basketball at the park and was on his way home. But they questioned his story after the girl and two other witnesses identified Heiertz as the man who grabbed the girl's arm.

Heiertz is facing a charge of aggravated assault on a minor.
