PHOENIX — A suspect is under arrest after hitting a Phoenix officer's patrol vehicle and leading a short pursuit.

It started around 10:00 a.m. Saturday when officers responded to a call about a stolen vehicle and tracked it to near 19th and Dunlap avenues, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

When officers reached the vehicle they attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver refused to obey.

Investigators say the driver rammed an unoccupied marked police vehicle and drove toward officers while fleeing the area.

Officers initially started to chase the suspect but backed off when the driver started disobeying traffic laws. A police air unit was called to follow the vehicle from the sky.

It was eventually tracked down to 23rd Avenue and Paradise Drive, just south of Cactus Road. That's where the suspect was taken into custody.

Their name hasn't been released by police and charges haven't been officially announced.

No officers were injured during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
