PHOENIX — A two-year-old girl has died after falling into a backyard swimming pool in Phoenix on Thanksgiving.
The Phoenix Fire Department was called to a home near 10th Street and Maryland Avenue Thursday morning for reports of a child who was submerged in water for an unknown period of time.
Officials originally identified the child as a boy but was later clarified as being a girl.
When emergency crews got to the home the girl was already pulled from the water but unresponsive, according to Phoenix Fire.
She was rushed to a nearby pediatric hospital for treatment and was later pronounced dead.
Phoenix police have identified her as Rosemary Solis.
The incident is being investigated as a tragic accident, police said.
The Phoenix Police Department reminds everyone to watch children around water, it only takes a few minutes for a child to drown.
