Phoenix police say an 8-year-old girl is dead stemming from a crash involving multiple cars in north Phoenix on Thursday evening.

Authorities were called to an intersection at 32nd Street and Paradise Lane after receiving reports that a speeding sedan struck a pickup truck head-on, officials said. There were four people in the car.

A woman, who was a passenger in the sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 34-year-old male driver was taken to the hospital where he died shortly after as a result of his injuries, police said. An 8-year-old girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition but passed away several days later.

A 3-year-old boy in the car was last reported in serious condition but is expected to be OK.

Authorities learned the 34-year-old man had a health condition and may have suffered a medical emergency at the time of the accident.

The 39-year-old truck driver suffered only minor injuries, officials said.

Officials do not believe impairment was involved and an investigation is ongoing.
