US Marshals were involved in a deadly shooting in Phoenix on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. in the area of Central Avenue and Hatcher Road.

Phoenix police say they were assisting the US Marshals in a fugitive investigation at a home in the area when the shooting occurred.

Officials say 71-year-old Craig Allen was contacted in the backyard when he pulled a handgun and pointed it at one of the Deputy Marshals.

One of the accompanying Deputy Marshals fired at Allen to end the threat, killing him.

According to the US Marshals, Allen was arrested in January 2018 for mail fraud and was placed on pretrial supervision. On October 29, 2018, an arrest warrant was issued for Allen after repeated violations of his pretrial release terms.

No officers were injured.
