PHOENIX — A motorcyclist is in the hospital recovering after being struck by a vehicle in Phoenix on Sunday morning.
According to Phoenix police, 29-year-old Alfred Brown was reportedly driving southbound on 52nd Street from McDowell Road at a high rate of speed when he struck a slower moving 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle in front of him also traveling southbound. Police say the 29-year-old rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike and sustained several injuries. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The rider of the motorcycle has not been identified at this time.
Brown was uninjured and remained at the scene where a drug recognition expert evaluated him. Officials say Brown showed signs of impairment and was taken to a police facility where a blood sample was drawn.
Brown was eventually booked into the Maricopa County Jail and is being charged with aggravated assault.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending the toxicological results.
