PHOENIX, AZ — A Phoenix firefighter has passed away after battling occupational cancer.
On Sunday evening, Phoenix firefighters released a statement saying Phoenix firefighter Brian Beck, Jr. passed away Sunday morning. He was 30 years old.
Firefighter Beck was a third-generation, eight-year veteran of the Phoenix Fire Department who worked mostly at Fire Station 33 in north Phoenix.
Officials say Beck is the second Phoenix firefighter to have lost his life due to job related cancer this year. He leaves behind a wife and three young children.
According to the release, Beck will be memorialized by the Phoenix Fire Department as a line of duty death, the details of his services are still pending.
