A teenager is in the hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in south Phoenix.
Phoenix police responded to the area of 39th Avenue and Baseline Road around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday after receiving a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.
According to Phoenix police, a 15-year-old boy was crossing in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a driver who failed to stop for a red light.
The teenager was transported to an area hospital with very serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time. The driver was cited at the scene.
