School personnel noticed marks on the face of a 6-year-old Phoenix boy, but that's not all they found, leading to the arrest of the child's mother.
Court documents show that when police and Department of Child Safety officials arrived at the school near 14th Avenue and Osborn Road, they saw marks all over the child's body.
The child told police that his mother, 29-year-old Ashley Simone White, "whooped him with a belt, all over his body."
Police say that, in addition to the marks found on his face, they found marks on his chest, upper and lower back, both of his upper thighs and on his left arm.
White told police she only spanked him on his behind with her hand.
White has been arrested on one count of child abuse.
