PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating after an infant was found dead Thursday afternoon behind a business near 35th Avenue and Baseline Road.
Officers responded to a call of an injured person at around 1 p.m., and once they arrived at the strip mall, they found an infant who was not breathing.
The Phoenix Fire Department says the child, identified as a newborn boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Details surrounding this incident are not known at this time.
The Phoenix Police Department is asking anyone that knows someone who was pregnant, and is no longer pregnant and without a baby to please call 602-262-6151, or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (480-TESTIGO for Spanish).
During a Thursday afternoon press conference, Phoenix police spokeswoman Ann Justus said their department does not have any current missing child or missing baby reports that match this case. She also said anyone who may be struggling to care for a child should go to a local hospital or other "Safe Haven" location where children can be safely surrendered.
