Officials are investigating an overnight shooting that killed a teenager in south Phoenix.

Phoenix police said they responded to a shots fired call at an apartment complex around 11p.m. on Thursday in the area of Central and Southern Avenues.

Officers in the area heard the shots being fired and quickly responded to the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene they found two victims with life-threatening injuries.

Police said officers also located and detained a third victim. Another person was detained who was uninjured and hiding in bushes nearby.

A 17-year-old male was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police believe he was there to meet with the three other men.

The second victim, a 19-year-old man, was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition. The third victim, a 21-year-old man, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is expected to survive.

Officials believe the shooting was a result of a drug sale "gone bad."

No names have been released.
