Phoenix police are investigating a deadly crash involving a bus that occurred Thursday morning.
The crash happened near 46th Street and Southern Avenue around 8 a.m.
Investigators say a pickup was driving west on Southern when it crossed into the eastbound lanes near 46th Street and crashed into a silver Kia. Those two vehicles then hit a Valley Metro bus also traveling east on Southern.
The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police spokesman. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.
There were 15 people on the bus at the time of the crash, though police said none suffered major injury.
Officials said information about citations and factors that may have caused the crash were still under investigation.
The victim was not identified in an update Thursday afternoon because police said family members had not yet been notified.
Southern was closed in both directions between 44th Street and 48th Street for several hours as a result of the crash.
