PHOENIX — Phoenix police are searching for a suspect who reportedly tried to hit a motorcycle officer Monday morning.
The incident occurred after 7 a.m. near 7th Street and Southern Avenue where a traffic enforcement officer on a motorcycle attempted to stop a speeding vehicle.
The vehicle reportedly pulled off the roadway into a dirt lot, did a U-turn and drove toward the officer. The officer was forced to lay down his motorcycle in an effort to avoid being struck by the oncoming suspect.
The suspect vehicle was located near 9th Street and Roeser Road but it was unoccupied. Officers are searching the area for the suspect.
No injuries were reported during the incident, but officials are asking the public to avoid the area during the search and investigation.
