PHOENIX — Police are asking for help in identifying three people who may have information in the death of a man outside a Phoenix McDonald's last week.

Phoenix police say 34-year-old Eric Hernandez was shot and killed February 13 near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road trying to chase down someone who stole his cell phone.

Police said the suspect asked Hernandez if he could borrow his phone and then ran off. Hernandez ran after the suspect, who turned around and shot him, police said.

The three people shown in surveillance videos released Wednesday are believed to have information about Hernandez's death. Police said the two men and one woman appear to be in their early 20s, and may be associated with a newer model silver or grey 4-door sedan.

One of the men is 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 155 pounds. The other is about the same weight and shorter than the first. The woman is about 5 feet 2 inches and 105 pounds, police said.

Investigators believe the suspect may hang out in the area around where the shooting happened. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Phoenix police at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
