No matter where you live, thieves trail delivery trucks looking opportunities to strike.
Avery Drew lives near 19th Avenue and Baseline road in a new, gated community.
He lost his birthday gift Thursday after a random woman ran up on his front porch and took the box dropped off just 20 minutes prior.
"I was thinking, couldn't they have stolen a package from me yesterday or tomorrow. You know, not right on my birthday," Drew said.
The woman has dark hair, glasses and is driving a gray or white SUV.
Drew joins a list of millions of other Americans who've lost a package to a porch pirate.
Companies are coming up with delivery lockboxes in all shapes and sizes, aimed at protecting packages until the owner gets home.
Drew filed a police report but knows it's unlikely he'll ever see what was inside that box.
"Really, I would like for this person to suffer the consequences of stealing."
