PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating after a person was shot by officers near 7th Street and Baseline Road Thursday night.
Police say they received a shots fired call and loud music from a residence on Carter Circle around 9:30 p.m.
The caller reported that a man, later identified as a 29-year-old, had fired a weapon and provided a description.
When officers arrived they located the man fitting the description in a fenced yard and spotted a handgun tucked into his waistband, according to Phoenix police.
As the officers began giving commands the man reached for his gun, said officials. Both officers then fired their weapons, striking the man.
He was provided first aid and was taken to a nearby hospital by the Phoenix Fire Department. He is listed in stable condition.
Investigators say a gun was recovered at the scene and no officers were hurt.
Officials have identified the officers involved as both males in their 20s and both with two years of experience with Phoenix PD.
