PHOENIX — With long lines and empty shelves at grocery stores, one Phoenix family thought of a solution for their neighbors.
"We decided that we've got plenty so let's share this way,” says Ray Logan.
They're not sharing store or pantry shelves, but bookshelves. The Logans set up a "giving bookshelf" with extra pantry items and encouraged visitors to contribute.
"I was expecting everything to just be wiped clean,” says Courtney Logan.
The opposite happened.
Ray explains they noticed anyone who takes an item from the bookshelf, puts another item back.
"I didn't expect that much contribution to need to put more storage in the yard,” he says.
"It's nice to see people still have the right mindset,” says Courtney. "We don't need years supply of stuff. We just need to get through the month and hopefully we'll all be okay,” added Ray.
Until then, the Logan's will keep their "giving bookshelf" up and running as long as it takes. Ray is hopeful it won't be long.
"Everything's going to be fine. We just need to help each other."
