Woman killed, 16-year-old in critical condition after crash involving school bus in Phoenix

A woman has died and a minor is in critical condition after crashing into a school bus Monday.

The crash happened at 71st Avenue and Broadway Road just after 7 a.m.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said 33-year-old Nuvia Villalobos and a child were driving in a Jeep at the time of the crash, and no children were inside the bus.

The child was taken to a nearby trauma center and remains in critical condition.

According to MCSO, Villalobos was traveling southbound on 71st Avenue when she was collided with the school bus which was traveling westbound on Broadway.

Broadway was closed from 67th to 75th avenues for several hours but has since reoepned.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
