Man dead, woman hurt after shooting near 37th Avenue and Camelback Road

One man is dead and a woman hospitalized after a shooting in west Phoenix late Wednesday night. 

Police say officers responded to a call of a shooting near 39th Avenue south of Camelback Road. While they were on the way, officers saw a vehicle leaving the area and conducted a traffic stop.

30-year-old Nefartiti Ford was inside the car with a gunshot wound. 

Mark Lopez, 26, was found at the shooting scene with a gunshot wound.

Both victims were taken to the hospital but Lopez did not survive. 

Police say one male suspect in his 20's has been taken into custody. 

Police are still looking for a second suspect. That suspect is identified as a black male in his mid 20's, 5'10" - 6'0" with black hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Ford suffered serious injuries and is recovering in the hospital. 

Officials have not given any further information on what led to the shooting.
