PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department says a 23-year-old man was fatally shot at a party Saturday morning while he and a suspect were mishandling a gun.
Officers were called to an apartment near 63rd Avenue and McDowell Road around 3:30 a.m. Saturday for reports of shots fired.
Authorities say Jose Sanchez-Gamboa was found with a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, 29-year-old Fausto Galindo-Gonzalez was arrested. Phoenix police say the two men were mishandling the gun that belonged to Galindo-Gonzalez when it was fired.
He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on manslaughter charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
