Man, teen arrested after deadly shooting at restaurant near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road

PHOENIX, AZ — A man and a teenager have been arrested after a deadly shooting in west Phoenix Tuesday.

At about 8:30 p.m., police were called to the area of 59th Avenue and McDowell Road for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived they located a man in his 30s in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified by police as Jesus Gonzalez Berrelleza.

Phoenix police detectives reviewed surveillance video from surrounding businesses.

During their initial investigation, they learned there was an argument between Berrelleza and another man, in his 20s, at a restaurant.

At one point, a teenage male arrived and the man in his 20s grabbed a gun from the vehicle being driven by the teenager, police said.

Moments later shots were fired and then the teen and man in his 20s left the scene.

Police were able to identify the two and arrested them at different locations.

The man in his 20s was arrested and is facing charges of first-degree murder. The teen was detained and taken to the Juvenile Correction Center for facilitation to commit first-degree murder, according to Phoenix PD.
