PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a 16-year-old has been arrested after shooting a 14-year-old boy in west Phoenix Monday evening.
Police say the victim was shot near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road at around 6:30 p.m.
The boy was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Police said Tuesday that the victim was in a room inside his home with several friends when the 16-year-old boy mishandled the gun and shot his friend.
The suspect fled the scene, then allegedly committed a robbery and took someone's vehicle at gunpoint.
The 16-year-old is being booked into the Durango Juvenile Detention Center for aggravated assault, weapons violations, and armed robbery. His name is not being released at this time.
