PD: Man shot, killed near I-17 and McDowell Road overnight; suspects on the loose

PHOENIX — Phoenix police are searching for two suspects involved in a homicide that occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday morning near I-17 and McDowell Road.

According to Phoenix police, 26-year-old Danzail Walton was standing at a parking lot exit near Jaguars Sports Bar when the two suspects stopped their Blue Chevy Sedan near him.

Police say the suspects got out of their vehicle and began a "short verbal exchange" with Walton. One of the suspects them pulled out a gun and shot Walton.

He was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

A security guard in the parking lot allegedly shot at the suspects' vehicle, and believes some of his rounds hit the dark blue Chevy Impala.

The two suspects are men believed to be between 25 to 30 years old.

On Saturday afternoon, police released a composite sketch of the suspected shooter. He is described as being 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 180 to 250 pounds and 20 to 30 years old.
