Phoenix fire: 1 man dead, another critically injured after shooting in west Phoenix

One man is dead and another is hospitalized after a shooting in west Phoenix Saturday afternoon.

Authorities were called to the area of Thomas Road and 59th Avenue around 3 p.m. after receiving reports of the shooting.

When Phoenix fire arrived at the scene, one man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head, officials said.

A second man was transported to the hospital after being shot in the chest, a Phoenix fire spokesperson said. He is reportedly in critical condition.

Both of the victims were found in a black sedan, police said. 

The man who was shot in the chest told authorities that the shooter was in the car with them and they know who it is.

A description of the suspect is not known at this time. An investigation is ongoing.
