Phoenix police say a woman escaped an attack at a west Valley bus stop by hiding in the drink cooler of a nearby convenience store.

According to court documents, the victim asked Timothy Ross if he was the driver of the bus parked at the bus stop near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road.

He said he wasn't then propositioned the woman, offering to pay her for sex.

Police say when the woman refused, Ross attacked. He punched her, dragged her behind the bus stop and choked her while wrestling off her clothes trying to rape the woman.

The police report says another woman ran to help, giving the victim a chance to run into a nearby Circle K where she hid in the cooler.

Ross allegedly chased her into the store and tried to pry open the cooler doors while others in the store started throwing items at him trying to get him to back off.

When police arrested Ross they say he blamed "drug guys" who threatened to kill him if he didn't undress and kidnap a woman to bring to them.

Ross is charged with attempted sex assault, assault, sex abuse, kidnapping and burglary.
