CHANDLER, AZ — Chandler police say a man crashed his vehicle into an apartment building Wednesday evening.

It happened near Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard.

Officials say a family of four has been displaced as a result.

"I just had made it home, sat on the couch, and in the exact spot where the car ended up," said Reynaldo Fuentes, a resident in the apartment.

Fuentes says, luckily, he stood up shortly before impact.

"It ruined a lot of things in the apartment. It was very scary," added Fuentes.

Officials say the driver was injured but appears to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Chandler police say impairment might be a factor.

The American Red Cross is now helping Fuentes, his son and two nephews find a place to stay.

"Right now, hopefully, they can help me with that to see where we can go, so we can go rest," said Fuentes.

No other injuries were reported.

The person who owns the apartment building says he's working with insurance agents to get the family the help they need.

This is an ongoing investigation.
