A Chandler school bus driver admitted to slapping a special needs student for spitting on him, according to the Chandler Unified School District and the Chandler Police Department.
Officials said the driver reported the incident to the school district. The incident happened on December 1.
He said he did it as retaliation after the student allegedly spit on him twice. Police said another staff member witnessed the incident.
The bus driver has since resigned, and it is unclear whether he will face any charges.
Chandler police said the student could be charged with assault, but that is unlikely.
