A Christmas morning assault left a Chandler woman scrambling for her life.
According to court documents, 20-year-old Jonathan Devincentis assaulted his ex-girlfriend by kicking and punching her around 3:30 a.m. at an apartment near Pecos Road and Arizona Avenue.
Police said he also dragged her to the bathtub at knifepoint and held water over her face for at least 30 seconds. The victim managed to escape but Devincentis went after her, grabbing her and dragging her through a muddy puddle.
Documents said the victim made it back into her apartment but the suspect pursued her and, once inside, he used the knife to cut her clothes and then poured ketchup on them.
The next day, Devincentis went to Chandler Police and turned himself in to officers. Documents said he admitted to the assault, saying that he wanted the victim to physically feel as much pain as he was feeling emotionally.
Devincentis has been charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, robbery and criminal damage.
