CHANDLER, AZ — Police say a man has died and another man was arrested after a road rage incident that led to a shooting in Chandler Saturday.

At about 3 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired at Gilbert and Germann roads.

An argument reportedly happened while two men were driving northbound on Gilbert Road.

Once they stopped at a red light, the victim, identified as 37-year-old Christopher Pelkey, got out of his vehicle, walked back towards the other vehicle, which was behind Pelkey's vehicle.

The other driver, identified 50-year-old Gabriel Paul Horcasitas, then fired multiple rounds from his gun, hitting Pelkey, police say.

One stray bullet hit another vehicle with a family of three but no one was injured, police told ABC15.

Pelkey was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

An investigation determined Pelkey was not armed, according to police.

Horcasitas was booked into Maricopa County Jail on multiple charges that include first-degree murder, drive-by shooting, and endangerment.

An investigation is ongoing.
